Private Lesson Booking & Policies
Davis Fencing Academy offers private lessons for fencers of all skill levels and goals in the weapons of Foil and Epee.Davis Fencing Academy has structured its training program around private lessons to ensure meaningful progress and personalized training that fits the needs of individual fencers. Our system is optimized to develop a strong fencing identity among each athlete that plays to their strengths and minimizes weaknesses.
Please Note: Private Lessons are NOT packaged in the membership fees and are priced separately.
Private Lesson Policy
Competitive Memberships: Davis Fencing Academy requires that students in our Competitive program schedule at least 1 private lesson a week from available coaching options.
Elite Memberships: Davis Fencing Academy requires that athletes in our Elite program schedule at least 2 private lessons a week with an Elite level coach.
When scheduling private lessons, arrangements must be made by speaking with the coach directly during club operating hours. All of our coaches are certified by the United States Fencing Coaches Association, hold professional memberships in the USFA, and have passed the USOC mandated SafeSport program.
Our private lessons tiers include:

Regional Coach (Competitive): Proven training for success in local tournaments and regional events.

National Coach (Competitive): Proven training for success in events as above, as well as national and interstate events.

International Coach (Elite): Proven training for meaningful results in events as above, as well as international events such as world cups, olympics, and grand prix.

Maestro Lucchetti
Davis Fencing Academy is pleased to welcome back Maestro Marcos Lucchetti. Before becoming a coach, Maestro Lucchetti represented his home country of Argentina in foil in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. As a coach, he has worked for Princeton, Ohio State and Stevens Institute of Technology among other schools and private clubs.
While working at Davis Fencing Academy in its early years, he coached Nat Burke to his #3 ranking in U.S. Men’s Epee, Max Williams to a 5th place finish at Cadet World Championships, multiple fencers to Youth Pan American medals and started Eileen Grench on her Olympic career. Recently returned from London, he is once again creating elite fencers in Davis.
Coaches & Staff

Simon Pitfield
Fencing Master, Owner
Simon started fencing in 1995, while attending UC Davis. In 1998 he was the co-founder of the City of Davis fencing program and opened the Davis Fencing Academy in 1999. In 2000 he received his Maître d’Armes (Fencing Master) degree from the French Academy of Arms in Paris. Simon is the owner and head coach of the Davis Fencing Academy and a National Team Coach for USA Pentathlon Multisport.

Ryan Servis
Coach, Club Manager
Ryan was one of the first students at Davis Fencing Academy. After high school, he attended University of Puget Sound where he ran the fencing club. When he returned to Davis, Ryan reconnected with the club where he coaches a variety of classes.
